My husband loves his career in law enforcement. He has wanted to work in law enforcement since he was little and for the past five years he has been pursuing his dream and doing one hell of a job at it too. He loves what he does. He loves to go to work. The thought that someone might actually love to go to work still amazes me. Maybe because I have never felt that way about any of my jobs. And yes, they were just jobs-not careers.
I will never forget coming home from our amazing honeymoon in Jamaica. I was dreading the thought of returning to work after a glorious week and a half vacation. My husband, on the other hand, could not wait to get back. He actually said he “missed” work! What was I doing wrong?
Since that day, I have felt that I am missing that passion in my life. I am 25 years old, married with two kids, and have NO idea what I want to be when I grow up. I don’t even have a hobby that I can say I thoroughly “love!”
Yes, I love being a stay at home mom…now. But, in ten years, the kids will be older. They will have their own friends, their own hobbies.
I am determined to take this time to find my passion…or at least a few hobbies.
But how do you find Passion? Inspiration?
For those of you who are moms, you know it is a battle to find time for you.
Between getting the kids ready for school, to changing diapers, to bottle feedings, emptying the dishwasher, getting the laundry done and hopefully folded before it sits in the dryer for two days, and oh wait! don’t forget about the dogs- you are lucky if you even have the energy to shower at the end of the day let alone think about goals and desires.
So for all of you out there…What are your passions, hobbies? How do you find your inspiration? How do you find time?
P.S. I know cooking is a huge hobby for people, therefore, I am going to give it a try. Growing up in a house where dinner consisted of cereal, hamburger helper, and frozen lasagna didn’t quite give me the skill sets to be a connoisseur around the kitchen. So, we will see…will keep you posted.
